The 2016 reunion was held in Springfield, Illinois from June 5th through June 9th.  Twenty-six shipmates attended along with their guests. Sunday, June 5th was check-in and a pizza party.

On Monday, June 6th  the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Lincoln’s Home were visited. On Tuesday, June 7th Lincoln’s Tomb was visited; and while at the cemetery the ship’s memorial ceremony was held for departed members or spouses from the past year. This was conducted at the Vietnam Memorial . Also this day, lunch was had at an original Route 66 restaurant called the Cozy Dog Drive-In.

The Illinois state Capital as well as the Air Combat Museum finished the day. An optional event was a reenactment of a Civil War Unit retiring the colors at Lincoln’s Tomb. Many attended and felt the entire program was very meaningful.

On Wednesday, June 8th New Salem Historic Village was visited followed by a wonderful lunch at the Morningstar Café. After lunch  the Old State Capital, and the  Dana Thomas House (Frank Lloyd Wright designed Prairie style home)  were visited.  The reunion concluded that evening with the traditional banquet and raffle.
